Having the ability to gauge the service and retail performance of a salon location, over time, is a valuable tool for determining what works well and what areas need improvement. When a salon has been in business for several years, and has been using the SuperSalon point of sale, there are several tools and reports owners can use for these measurements.
One of these is the Monthly Sales Comparison Report and we’ll take a look at it in this article.
Located in the Reports Menu> Monthly Sales Comparison, this report was designed specifically to show business owners and senior staff the important averages and percentages of performance for the current month, based on a prior month and year.
To use the report, select the month you wish to view in the upper left list. Then, highlight the year for this report with the list just below.
Clicking or tapping Generate Report button will generate the output containing the same easy-to-read column and row arrangement of data seen in most SuperSalon reports.
When generated, the user will see four primary columns as follows:
- Month to Date
- Previous Year MTD
- Year to Date
- Previous Year YTD
The sales performance for each of these time periods will produce the given rows as both totals and percentages in regards to service, product and total sales revenue. Additionally, the averages for each ticket is also displayed. This gives owners a much clearer illustration of what has been working best and when.
Armed with this information, you can tailor your marketing efforts to better take advantage of past trends. You can also schedule staff around times that are historically busy, based on the averages displayed in this report.
