With a new year comes new tax rates for many locations throughout the US. Luckily, SuperSalon comes with easy to use tax implementation tools right out of the box. Whether it’s a temporary local tax, VAT tax, or a replacement tax, SuperSalon has its users covered. This article will go over the step-by-step instructions involved in crafting a generic tax, and adding it to the system.
Creating a New Tax
Step 1: From anywhere in SuperSalon, go into the Setup menu > Software Settings > Sales > Tax. Scroll to the bottom of the interface, and click or tap on the “Add Tax” button, as shown below.

Step 2: Choose a name for the tax, using the text field shown in the below image.

Step 3: Now come up with a unique code for the new tax so it will be better recognized by SuperSalon, using the given text field.

Step 4: The last field is for the numeric percentage rate that the new tax rate will incur, enter that without the percentage symbol.

Step 5: With the given text fields properly filled in, click or tap on the “Choose Global Effect of Tax” button, as shown in the illustrated example below.

Step 6: A pop up menu will then generate, and this will give the user the ability to choose which salon offering the location provides that will incur the new tax. The given choices are as follows:
- All Products
- All Services
- All Gift Certificates
- All Tuitions

Step 7: With the correct business aspect selected for the new tax rate, click or tap on the “Ok” button in the lower right hand side of the pop-up menu, as shown in the illustrated example.

Step 8: Make sure all is correct by reviewing your work, then click or tap on the “Ok” button to save the new tax rate into SuperSalon, and make it available during the ticket/sales process.

The instructions shown here reflect a generic tax that requires no action on the part of the salon staff to add it to a ticket.
