Minimum System Requirements for SuperSalon

This year has seen some of the biggest performance upgrades to our SuperSalon Point of Sale software. With the release of our lightning fast, MySQL 5-based 5.6.5.13 version, SuperSalon has more power and speed than ever before.

If you’ve used this new version, you know its speed and stability are greatly improved. With even more powerful upgrades in the works, it’s important to make sure that your current hardware can support them. So what are the minimum requirements for SuperSalon moving forward?

The current system requirements for SuperSalon versions 5.6.5.13 and newer are as follows:

  • CPU: Intel or AMD Multi-Core 64 bit processor capable of 2.6 GHz or faster
  • System RAM: 2 GB
  • Operating System: Windows 7 Professional or Windows 8 / 8.1 Professional
  • Hard Drive: At least 60 GB of size, or free space
  • Connections: At least three free USB 2.0 (or newer) slots
  • Internet Connection*: 2Mbps/768kbps with ping times of less than 100ms and a packet loss of no more than 5%

* Basic PoS function IS possible with a dialup internet connection. However, integrated credit card processing and other features will not work in this configuration.

SecureNet Card Reader – What you Need to Know about Windows 8

Users of the SecureNet integrated credit card processor should be advised to notify either Rogers Software Technical Support or SecureNet support prior to upgrading their Windows operating system to the newer 8 or 8.1 versions. The older encrypted card readers that have been distributed for users of Windows 7 are NOT compatible with the new versions of Windows and must be replaced prior to any upgrade of the OS.

New merchants just signing up with this integrated method should not be affected, and SecureNet has newer readers for sale for existing customers who need to upgrade their operating system or early adopters.

It is our pleasure to announce a promotion within our RSD family that is both well-deserved and many years in the making. Throughout James Rowe’s decade-long tenure with Rogers Software Development, he has demonstrated every characteristic of a natural leader and well respected co-worker. No matter his place in the company’s hierarchy, James gives 100% of himself to those he works with, as well as the clients who have grown to value him.

Because of those and other traits, we take great pride in announcing James new appointment to the executive position of Director of Product Management. In his new capacity, James continues his roll as lead in SuperSalon development, upgrades, updates, testing and the integration of new features.

All the power and back-office functionality of our popular iOffice suite, but in a format that works seamlessly with your mobile device or smart phone. Take the power and flexibility of iOffice with you, wherever you are, with the new iOffice2Go.

Themes
Soon, your SuperSalon PoS will allow you to change the look and feel, on the fly, with our new Theme Options. Change the look of your SuperSalon without changing its navigation or functionality. It’s a great way to complement your brand or make SuperSalon more your own.

Tip of the Month: The Box Best Left Closed

With the holiday season here, it may be tempting to stream holiday and Christmas music in your salon. After all, holiday music creates a warm and welcoming ambiance for your customers during what is likely a busy time for your business. That sweet sound of holiday cheer might make a great backdrop for your salon during this time of year and, if it is, we have some important advice for you.

Keep music streaming off your SuperSalon PC and keep your data safe.

Online streaming music and multimedia sites (such as Pandora, Spotify and Jango) can constitute a security risk in certain circumstances and should never be installed or used on any PC that houses customer or business data. Rogers’ support department has seen a variety of issues that could be directly attributed to the use of such sites.

Everything from data loss, malware infection and even failed PCI scans are potential threats when your PC’s ports are left open for streaming content.

So, if you feel like getting into the holiday spirit by playing music in your salon, we strongly recommend using a secondary PC, laptop or mobile device instead. You’ll eliminate the risk of security breaches and ensure that your holidays are trouble-free.

Rogers Holiday Hours

We would like to wish all of our valued customers and partners a happy, safe and joyous holiday season as well as a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Please note that our staff will be limited through Christmas and New Year’s. However, support will be available during the following days and hours:

  • Support will be available December 24th from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm ET.
  • No support will be available Christmas Day.
  • Support will also be available January 1, 2015 – New Year’s Day – from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm ET.
